Our long standing team of veterinary staff includes:

TAUPO 

Dr Jeannie Barnes is one of our Companion Animal vets in our Taupo clinic and joined us from an Invercargill practice. She is married to Sean and has 2 boys. She can sometimes be seen lending an experienced hand at our Tokoroa Clinic. Jeanie's outside interests are fishing, skiing and keeping up with her children.

Dr Paul Morris is a senior veterinarian based in Taupo. He enjoys small animal medicine and surgery and getting out with farm animals for a change. Before coming to Taupo he worked in farm animal and mixed practice and is enjoying the opportunity to develop his special interest in small animal medicine and surgery in a well-equipped practice.

Dr Nicola Wilson is a senior companion animal veterinarians based in Taupo. Having been based in Auckland most of her working life, she has bravely ventured south of the Bombay Hills to see what the rest of NZ offers. Consequently she is enjoying the special issues of working dogs. She enjoys new challenges and sporting endeavours.

Dr Elissa Chalmers is an FEI accredited vet and started her veterinary career at our Taupo Clinic, ventured to the UK for some OE and luckily she returned to Taupo. Elissa is a senior companion and large animal veterinarian. Her spare time tends to involve horses!

Dr Sophie Macrae is a mixed animal veterinarian based in Taupo. Oiginally from Nottingham, England, she studied for her veterinary degree at London University. Following graduation, having already spent some time working with us as a student, she decided to make the big trip over here to pursue her special interest in farm animal practice, which she is thoroughly enjoying. In her spare time, she can often be found pub quizzing, ceroc dancing or playing squash.

Dr Sophie Wigley is our newest vet who works mainly out of our Taupo Clinic.  She graduated from Massey University in December 2009.  Originally from Amberley, North Canterbury, she grew up on a sheep farm.  As well as a farming backgroung, she has a keen interest in all things equine, including hunting and eventing.  She also enjoys snow and water skiing. 

TOKOROA/WHAKAMARU

Dr Samantha Burgess started her vet career in 1995 for Rotorua Vet Services and came to work for the Taupo branch of TDVS in July 2002 as a large animal locum to help during spring. She then moved to Tokoroa in 2003 to work as a Companion Animal Vet, where she has worked since. Her passion is for her family and animals, and all her spare time not working is spent looking after 2 toddlers. 

Dr Jen Breukers started at Tokoroa Vets at the end of 2008 after graduating from Massey University. She comes from teh Wararapa where she grew up on a Sheep and Beef farm. Jen is interested in Large Animal Dairy, Sheep and Beef. She is very sporty and her interests outsied work are running, playing squash and touch.

Dr Rebecca Alexander is from Hawkes Bay and started with Tokoroa Vets at the end of 2008 after graduating from Massey University. She also has an Animal Science degree and Post graduate Diploma in Animal Science. She currently practices Equine, Farm and Companion Animal work. Rebecca's outside interests are horseriding and spending time with her labrador retriever Ruby. 

Dr Paul Field qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London and spent a year working in Mixed Practice in South-East England, before following his passion for farm animals and coming out to join the team. His main veterinary work is Dairy, but he works with all species. When he's not working he enjoys mountain biking, climbing, skiing and kayaking in the stunning New Zealand scenery. 

Dr Liselore Geenevasen (usually known as Lore) is imported from The Netherlands and graduated in Belgium at Ghent University in July 2008 with a specialisation in ruminants. Lore started at Tokoroa Vets in July 2009 as a large animal vet technician as her degree was not recognised in New Zealand. After passing the New Zealand Beterinary Exams in November 2009 she is now able to work as a vet here. She practices both Large and Companion Animal work, but is particularly interested in cattle. She loves the New Zealand outdoors and can often be found tramping, running or playing squash.

Dr Ruby Sibley is from Brighton in South East England and graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in July 2009. Sick of the English weather and lack of cows she came straight out to work in New Zealand and started at out Tokoroa practice in 2009. She works with both Large and Companion Animals and is particularly fond of avian patients. In her spare time she enjoys tramping and running, and is looking forward to the approaching ski season.
